The Las Vegas World Affairs Council was officially born on April 21st, 2004.

In its three year existence, The Las Vegas World Affairs Council has quickly become the premiere internationally-focused nonprofit in Las Vegas, holding a wide variety of public events every year on global affairs, sending teachers abroad for education, and aiding students and the general public alike in understanding international relations.

Our mission is to educate all Las Vegans on international affairs, through programs, membership events, and educational activities.

In 2007, the organization will host over 60 public events, including World Trade Week Las Vegas, send teachers to Turkey, and sponsor several local educational programs, including The SAGE Academy and Academic WorldQuest.

What was LVWAC's first event? The visit of Dr. Jerry Leach, former president of the World Affairs Councils of America, in July, 2004.

Who came as LVWAC's first diplomat visit? The Former Netherlands Ambassador to the United States, His Excellency Boudewijn Johannes van Eenennaam.

What was LVWAC's first grant? 2010: Las Vegas & Mexico, from PBS, in December, 2004.

What was the "best" event? It depends completely on who you ask. Some of our members enjoy the formal Ambassador events and others come for the social programs.
